Frenchland

I was so impressed with France after my trip to Walygator! that I decided to get off my ass and make the trek to Paris the following weekend. Working with many French people I have been given two different impressions of Paris:

1. That it is the most amazing city in the world, or
2. It is full of tourists and too expensive, too crowded, and has too much crime.

Hmmm, well at least I would be going with my own French speaker and regardless of everything else I knew there would be almost unlimited numbers of things to see and do.

For instance you could visit the Eiffel Tower at night:

Then in the morning you could visit the Musée du Louvre:

Which of course is the burial spot for Mary Magdalene as well as home to a few important works of art such as the horribly disappointing Mona Lisa (which I knew was going to be disappointing, and which oddly enough made the whole experience even more disappointing), and the much more impressive Venus de Milo:

And where you might be able to meet that 'special' statue....

Then you can go back to the Eiffel Tower:

And check out some views of Paris after waiting in line for 1.5 hours in the rain without an umbrella:

Maybe then you can eat some frites and enjoy a delicious Coca Light on the River Seine:

Followed by a walk to the Arc de Triomphe,

from which you can get yet another view of the Eiffel Tower:

Finally you can head back to the Eiffel Tower at night for one last look at the coolest pile of steel on the planet:

A very cool city indeed. One might also want to consider dining out with a large gaggle of Irish friends and being repeatedly shooshed by a grumpy Parisienne (to which you might respond with a loud and obnoxious rendition of 'Happy Birthday' to no one imparticular). Or not, your choice.

So yeah, tons of tourists, way too crowded, very expensive (nothing like a 8 Euro Heineken), but luckily I do not have a comment on the crime levels. All I am wondering now is why it took me so long to go the first time, and trying to figure out when I am coming back, which unfortunately will not be for awhile...oh well.

Cheers!
